LED Facts: Efficiency
LED lighting can be up to 30 times more efficient than incandescent lighting (which converts only 10% of the electricity it consumes into visible light and 90% into heat) and approximately twice as efficient as fluorescent lighting.
LED Facts: Clean and Green
LED lamps contain no mercury, unlike fluorescent, compact fluorescent, metal halide, high pressure sodium, and a variety of other lamps. Many of these mercury-containing lamps can be classified as hazardous waste all need to be carefully recycled, not sent to the landfill.
LED Facts: Recycling
Nationally, 70.8% of the mercury-containing lamps used by business and 98% used in homes are not being recycled. More information on correct recycling of lamps (bulbs) containing mercury is available by clicking here http://www.lamprecycle.org
LED Facts: Infrared
Incandescent and fluorescent lighting emit infrared radiation, which can fade surrounding colors and which, as radiant heat, increases the demand on space cooling. In contrast, LEDs emit virtually no infrared.
LED Facts: Durability
Unlike fluorescents, LEDs are instant on-off. They are also dimmable, and do not lose efficiency from repeated switching. LEDs contain no filament or pressurized gasses and thus are less susceptible to failure from vibration or impact.
LED Facts: Long Lifetimes
LEDs have extremely long lifetimes, usually around 50,000 to 150,000 hours of use. Fifty thousand hours of use translates to roughly 17 years at 8 hours per day, 7 days per week (or 24 years at 5 days per week). This is particularly convenient for remote or difficult to access lighting.
LED Facts: Failure
LEDs do not "catastrophically fail" or "blink out." Rather, they slowly get dimmer. When the "lifetime" of an LED is referred to, usually 50,000 hours, this is normally defined as the time of use before dimming below 70% of their original luminance.
LED Facts: No Bugs!
With traditional exterior lighting, bugs are attracted to light being produced in the ultraviolet (UV) spectrum. LED produces minimal UV and does not attract bugs.
LED Facts: Quality Light
LED produces light with superior color rendering to incandescent, fluorescent, metal halide, and, particularly, high pressure sodium. This means you see colors and images more clearly - more as they actually are - a fact which is particularly helpful with images recorded by security cameras.

Energy Efficient Lighting Solutions

Lighting consumes around 20% of all electricity in the United States, and more than 40% in stores, offices, and other commercial buildings. Simple retrofits of new lighting technologies can create immediate cost savings through reduced energy bills. While RE/Construct Incorporated can work with you on any lighting solution, we are particularly oriented toward LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology. We can help you achieve a variety of applications, and all the benefits they include.

Interior Space Lighting: LED lamps are available as simple replacements for almost all styles of existing interior lighting fixtures, and full fixtures for new applications are available as well. Combined with occupancy sensors, highly efficient applications are cost effective and affordable.

Parking Lots: High intensity discharge (HID) parking lot lighting consumes tremendous amounts of electricity. LED applications can save thousands of dollars and operate only more efficiently in cold temperatures. With life expectancies of at least 50,000 hours, you can also save thousands by not having to change remote and difficult-to-access lighting.

Spot and Display Lighting: With no infrared emission, LED can light paintings, clothing, meat, and any other color-sensitive items with excellent color rendering and without fading or bleaching.

Security Lighting: On top of high efficiency and lower cost for running all night, LED also emits high-quality light that allows for better resolution from your security cameras.

Accent Lighting: Cove lighting, under-cabinet mounts, rope lighting, wall washers - these applications and more are available efficiently and across the color spectrum in LED.

General Exterior Lighting: Highly efficient, excellent color rendering, works great in cold environments, won't attract bugs - LED is appropriate for a variety of exterior lighting applications. It can also be combined with photovoltaic power generators and wireless applications.
